Formula and method
Every Ethereum denomination is a power of ten of the smallest unit, the wei: kwei is 10³ wei, mwei 10⁶, gwei 10⁹, szabo 10¹², finney 10¹⁵ and ether 10¹⁸. Converting between units just moves the decimal point by the difference in exponents — gwei to ETH moves it nine places left.
