About the Patreon Fee Calculator

This Patreon fee calculator shows how much of your membership income reaches your bank account. Enter your tier price, how many paying members you have, your Patreon plan and how members pay, and it breaks the monthly total into the platform fee, per-payment processing fees, the optional 2.5% currency conversion fee and the payout transfer fee.

It is for creators deciding on tier prices, comparing a legacy plan with the standard plan, or forecasting income before launching. Creators who published their page after August 4, 2025 are on Patreon’s standard 10% plan, which charges the same processing rate on every payment. Legacy Pro (8%) and Pro + Merch (11%) creators pay a higher micropayment rate on tiers of $3 or less, and Founders (5%) keep their own lower processing rates.

Figures use Patreon’s published USD payout rates (from its Creator fees overview, checked October 2026). Sales tax or VAT collected from members is not included, and payouts are assumed to happen once a month. Patreon may change its fees, so confirm your plan on your Plan details page.

With the default inputs, the monthly take-home is $810.75. Change any value above to recalculate instantly.

Formula and method

Gross = P × M
Platform fee = Gross × plan %
Processing = M × (P × r + F)
Conversion = Gross × 2.5% (if applicable)
Take-home = Gross − platform − processing − conversion − payout fee

Patreon takes a platform fee as a percentage of successfully processed payments: 10% on the standard plan, or 5%, 8% or 11% on legacy plans. Payment processing is charged on every individual payment as a percentage plus a fixed amount, so it is calculated per member rather than on the monthly total.

For USD payouts the standard plan charges 2.9% + $0.30 for cards and US PayPal, and 3.9% + $0.30 for non-US PayPal, on every payment. Legacy Pro and Pro + Merch tiers of $3 or less use the micropayment rate of 5% + $0.10 (6% + $0.10 for non-US PayPal); Founders pay 1.6% + $0.30 by card or 2.65% + $0.28 by PayPal. A 2.5% conversion fee applies when members pay in a different currency from your payout currency, and the payout fee is taken when the balance is transferred out — $0.25 by direct deposit or 1% (min $0.25, max $20) via PayPal.

P
Tier price per member per month
M
Number of paying members
r
Processing percentage for the plan and payment method
F
Fixed processing fee per payment ($0.30 standard, $0.10 micropayment)

Worked examples

$5 tier, 200 members, standard plan

200 × $5 = $1,000 gross. The 10% platform fee is $100. Processing is 2.9% × $5 + $0.30 = $0.445 per payment, or $89 for 200 members. After a $0.25 direct-deposit payout fee you keep $810.75 — fees take about 18.9%.

Legacy Pro, $3 tier, 500 members, PayPal payout

500 × $3 = $1,500. The 8% Pro fee is $120. Because the tier is $3 or less, the micropayment rate applies: 5% × $3 + $0.10 = $0.25 per payment, $125 in total. The remaining $1,255 is paid out via PayPal at 1% ($12.55), leaving $1,242.45.

$10 tier, 100 international PayPal members paying in another currency

Gross is $1,000 and the platform fee $100. Non-US PayPal costs 3.9% × $10 + $0.30 = $0.69 per payment ($69), and the 2.5% conversion fee adds $25. After the $0.25 payout fee you keep $805.75.

Founders plan, $5 tier, 200 card payments

Founders pay a 5% platform fee ($50 on $1,000) and the Founders card rate of 1.6% + $0.30, which is $0.38 per $5 payment or $76 for 200 members. Take-home after the $0.25 payout is $873.75.

Frequently asked questions

What percentage does Patreon take?+

Creators who publish a page after August 4, 2025 pay a 10% platform fee on successfully processed payments, plus payment processing, any currency conversion fee, payout fees and applicable taxes. Older legacy plans charge 5% (Founders), 8% (Pro) or 11% (Pro + Merch).

What are Patreon’s payment processing fees?+

For USD payouts on the standard plan, processing is 2.9% + $0.30 per payment for cards and US PayPal or Venmo, and 3.9% + $0.30 for non-US PayPal. Legacy plans pay 5% + $0.10 on tiers of $3 or less. Other payout currencies have their own rates.

Does Patreon charge a fee to withdraw money?+

Yes. US creators pay $0.25 per payout by Stripe direct deposit, or 1% of the payout (minimum $0.25, capped at $20) through PayPal. Payoneer and local bank transfers have separate fixed fees by currency.

Will I lose my legacy Patreon plan?+

Legacy plans stay in place only while your page remains continuously published. If you or Patreon unpublish the page for any reason, it moves to the standard 10% plan when republished, so Patreon recommends pausing billing instead of unpublishing.

Is a $3 tier a good idea on Patreon?+

Low tiers lose a large share to fixed fees. On the standard plan a $3 payment costs $0.387 in processing plus $0.30 platform fee — about 23% in total. Pricing a little higher, or offering annual billing, reduces the percentage lost.

Is sales tax included in this calculation?+

No. Where Patreon must collect sales tax or VAT from members it is added on top of the tier price and passed to tax authorities. Patreon notes processing fees are calculated on the full payment including tax, so actual fees can be slightly higher.
