About the Amazon FBA Calculator
This Amazon FBA calculator works out what is left of each sale once Amazon has taken its cut. Enter your selling price, what the product costs you, the cost of shipping it into Amazon’s warehouses and your fee rates, and it returns the referral fee, total Amazon fees, net profit per unit, profit margin, return on investment and the lowest price at which you still break even.
It is built for private-label sellers testing a product idea, wholesale and arbitrage sellers checking whether a buy is worth it, and existing sellers deciding whether a price cut or an ad push still leaves room for profit. Multiply by your expected monthly units to see what a listing is really worth to your business.
Amazon changes its fee schedule regularly and fulfillment fees depend on size tier and weight, so every fee here is editable. The defaults — a 15% referral fee with a $0.30 minimum and a mid-range small-standard fulfillment fee — are typical starting points as reviewed in September 2026; replace them with the figures from Seller Central or Amazon’s revenue calculator for your exact product.
With the default inputs, the net profit per unit is $11.09. Change any value above to recalculate instantly.
How to use the amazon fba calculator
- 1Enter your planned selling price and your landed product cost.
- 2Add inbound shipping per unit to get stock into Amazon.
- 3Set the referral rate for your category and the FBA fee for your size tier.
- 4Include storage and PPC or other costs per unit sold.
- 5Read net profit, margin and ROI, then check the break-even price before you commit.
Formula and method
The referral fee is the selling price multiplied by the category referral rate, but never less than the per-item minimum. Total Amazon fees are the referral fee plus the FBA fulfillment fee and the per-unit share of storage. Net profit subtracts those fees, your landed product cost (cost plus inbound shipping) and any advertising or other per-unit costs from the selling price.
Margin is profit divided by the selling price; ROI is profit divided by the cash tied up in each unit (product cost plus inbound shipping). The break-even price solves Price − Price × r − fixed costs = 0, so it equals fixed costs ÷ (1 − r), or fixed costs plus the minimum referral fee when the minimum applies. Sales tax is collected and remitted by Amazon and is ignored here.

Worked examples
$29.99 product with $7 cost and $2 of ads per unit
The 15% referral fee on $29.99 is $4.50; adding the $4.50 FBA fee and $0.15 storage gives $9.15 in Amazon fees. After the $7 product cost, $0.75 inbound shipping and $2 of ads, $11.09 is left — a 37% margin and 143% ROI. Selling 300 units a month earns about $3,327.
$12.99 low-price item
A $12.99 item pays a $1.95 referral fee plus $3.30 fulfillment and $0.08 storage. After $3.40 of landed cost and $0.50 of ads, profit is $3.76 per unit (29% margin); the price could fall to about $8.56 before the product stops making money.
$1.99 item where the minimum referral fee applies
Fifteen percent of $1.99 is under 30 cents, so the $0.30 minimum referral fee applies. With a $3.06 fulfillment fee the unit loses $2.02, and the break-even price is about $4.36 — a common reason very cheap items are sold in bundles on FBA.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Amazon take per sale?+
For most categories Amazon charges a referral fee of about 15% of the sale price (with a minimum per item), plus an FBA fulfillment fee based on size and weight if Amazon ships the order. Storage fees are charged monthly on inventory held in its warehouses.
What is a good profit margin on Amazon FBA?+
Many sellers aim for a net margin of 20–30% after all fees and advertising, and an ROI of 100% or more on product cost. Thinner margins can work at high volume but leave little buffer for returns, price drops or rising ad costs.
Does the FBA fee include shipping to the customer?+
Yes. The fulfillment fee covers picking, packing, shipping to the customer, customer service and handling returns for the order. It does not cover shipping your stock into Amazon, which is why inbound shipping is entered separately.
Where do I find my exact FBA fees?+
Seller Central shows the fees for each ASIN, and Amazon publishes its current referral-fee and FBA rate cards on its seller help pages. Enter those figures here, because rates change and vary by size tier, weight and category.
Should I include PPC advertising in my cost?+
Yes. Divide your monthly ad spend by the units sold to get ad cost per unit. Ignoring advertising is one of the most common reasons a product that looks profitable on paper loses money in practice.
