About the Military Time Converter
This military time converter translates any time between the 12-hour AM/PM clock and the 24-hour clock used by the military, hospitals, aviation, emergency services and most of the world. Formula and method
To convert 12-hour time to military time, keep AM hours as they are (adding a leading zero), change 12 AM to 00, keep 12 PM as 12, and add 12 to every PM hour from 1 to 11. Write the result as four digits with no colon: 9:05 AM → 0905, 6:30 PM → 1830.
To go back, subtract 12 from any hour from 13 to 23 and label it PM; hours 01–11 are AM, 12 is noon (PM) and 00 is midnight (12 AM). Spoken military time reads the hours then the minutes, using “hundred” for whole hours and “zero” for leading zeros.

Worked examples
2:45 PM to military time
2:45 PM is after noon, so add 12 to the hour: 2 + 12 = 14. The military time is 1445, spoken “fourteen forty-five hours” — 885 minutes after midnight.
0630 to 12-hour time
Hours below 12 are morning times, so 0630 is 6:30 AM. It is read “zero six thirty hours”.
12:05 AM (just after midnight)
The 12 AM hour is the midnight hour, which becomes 00 in military time, so 12:05 AM is 0005.
2100 hours
Subtract 12 from 21 to get 9, and because the hour is 12 or more it is PM: 2100 is 9:00 PM.
