About the Printable Calendar Generator
This printable calendar generator builds a clean monthly or full-year calendar for any year from 1900 to 2200. Choose whether weeks start on Sunday (common in the US and Canada) or Monday (the ISO standard used in the UK, Europe and much of the world), add ISO or US week numbers, and mark public holidays for the United States or England and Wales.
Print the calendar straight from the page, copy the plain-text version into an email, document or note, or use the holiday list to plan leave, school terms and project deadlines. The summary counts the days, weekdays, weekend days and holidays in the period — handy for working out how many working days a month really has.
US holidays follow federal law for the year you pick, including its history: before the Uniform Monday Holiday Act took effect in 1971, Washington’s Birthday (22 February) and Memorial Day (30 May) had fixed dates and there was no federal Columbus Day; Veterans Day fell on the fourth Monday of October from 1971 to 1977; Thanksgiving was the last Thursday of November until 1938 and the fourth Thursday from 1942; Martin Luther King Jr. Day starts in 1986 and Juneteenth in 2021. The modern weekend rule (Saturday holidays observed on Friday, Sunday holidays on Monday) is applied to every year. England and Wales use the 1971 Banking and Financial Dealings Act pattern with weekend substitute days, plus the moved and extra days of 2020, 2022 and 2023; earlier one-off days (such as the 2002 and 2012 jubilees) and the different pre-1978 rules are not modelled, so check official sources for those years.

Formula and method
The calendar is laid out from the weekday of the first day of each month, found with the Gregorian calendar rules (leap years every 4 years, except century years not divisible by 400). Each month is drawn as a 6-row grid so months line up when printed three across.
Floating holidays are found as “the nth weekday of the month” (for example Labor Day is the first Monday in September and Thanksgiving the fourth Thursday in November), or the last one (Memorial Day). The rule in force in the chosen year is used — fixed dates for Washington’s Birthday and Memorial Day before 1971, Veterans Day on the fourth Monday of October in 1971–1977, and the last or third Thursday for Thanksgiving before 1942. Easter-based UK bank holidays use the anonymous Gregorian computus for Easter Sunday. Working days are weekdays minus the days actually taken off: US holidays that fall on a Saturday are observed on the Friday before and Sunday holidays on the Monday after, while UK bank holidays already move to a weekday.
Worked examples
2027 yearly calendar with US holidays
2027 starts on a Friday and is not a leap year, so it has 365 days: 261 weekdays and 104 weekend days. Juneteenth and Christmas fall on Saturdays and Independence Day on a Sunday, so they are observed on Friday 18 June, Monday 5 July and Friday 24 December. New Year’s Day 2028 is a Saturday, so it is observed on Friday 31 December 2027. That makes 12 weekday holidays and leaves 249 working days.
December 2027 with UK bank holidays
Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday and Boxing Day a Sunday, so the bank holidays move to Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December. December has 23 weekdays, so there are 21 working days.
February 2028, a leap year
2028 is divisible by 4, so February has 29 days. It starts on a Tuesday and contains 21 weekdays and 8 weekend days; with no holidays marked, all 21 weekdays are working days.
1965 US calendar, before the Monday holiday law
In 1965 Washington’s Birthday was fixed on 22 February (a Monday) and Memorial Day on 30 May (a Sunday, observed Monday 31 May); there was no federal Columbus Day or MLK Day. Independence Day fell on a Sunday (observed 5 July), Christmas on a Saturday (observed 24 December) and New Year’s Day 1966 on a Saturday (observed 31 December 1965). With Labor Day, Veterans Day (11 November) and Thanksgiving (25 November) that is 9 weekday days off, leaving 252 working days.
October 1975: Columbus Day and Veterans Day
From 1971 to 1977 Veterans Day was the fourth Monday in October, so October 1975 had two federal holidays: Columbus Day on Monday 13 October and Veterans Day on Monday 27 October. The month’s 23 weekdays minus 2 leaves 21 working days.

Should my calendar start on Sunday or Monday?+
Calendars in the US, Canada and Japan traditionally start on Sunday. The international standard ISO 8601, used across the UK and Europe, starts the week on Monday. Choose whichever matches how you plan your week.
What are the US federal holidays?+
There are 11: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. When one falls on a weekend, federal workers get the nearest Friday or Monday off.
How many working days are in a year?+
A typical year has 260 or 261 weekdays (262 in some leap years). Subtracting public holidays gives roughly 250 working days in the US and about 252–253 in England and Wales.
Is 2028 a leap year?+
Yes. 2028 is divisible by 4 and is not a century year, so February 2028 has 29 days and the year has 366 days.
