This Etsy fee calculator adds up every fee Etsy charges on a typical sale — the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee on the item price and shipping, the Etsy Payments processing fee, and Offsite Ads when a sale comes from one of Etsy’s ads — and subtracts them, along with your materials and postage, to show the profit you actually keep.

The defaults use Etsy’s standard US seller fees as reviewed in September 2026: payment processing of 3% + $0.25 applied to the order total including sales tax. Processing rates differ by country, and some sellers also pay currency conversion or regulatory operating fees, so edit the processing rate to match your Etsy Payments region.

Formula and method
Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee each time an item sells (the auto-renewal after a sale), a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and a payment processing fee — 3% + $0.25 in the US — on the full order total including sales tax. If the order was attributed to Offsite Ads, a further 15% (or 12% for sellers who made over $10,000 in the past year) of the order total is charged, capped at $100 per order.
Profit is the price and shipping you charge, minus all fees, minus your materials, labor and postage. Sales tax is collected and remitted by Etsy so it is not counted as income.

Worked examples
$35 handmade item with $5 shipping
The 6.5% transaction fee on $40 is $2.60. Processing is 3% of $43.20 (including 8% tax) plus $0.25 = $1.55. Adding the $0.20 listing fee, Etsy keeps $4.35, and after $9 of materials and $4.50 of postage you keep $22.15.
$60 item sold through Offsite Ads
With free shipping, the transaction fee is $3.90 and processing is $2.16. The 15% Offsite Ads fee adds $9, so Etsy’s total is $15.26 and profit falls to $20.74.
$1,000 commission with the Offsite Ads cap
Twelve percent of $1,000 would be $120, but the Offsite Ads fee is capped at $100. With a $65 transaction fee and $30.25 processing, total fees are $195.45 and profit is $229.55.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?+
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus the shipping and gift-wrap charges, and payment processing applies to the whole order total including tax.
Can I opt out of Etsy Offsite Ads?+
Sellers who made less than $10,000 in the past 12 months can opt out, and pay 15% only on sales that come from the ads. Sellers above $10,000 must participate but pay a lower 12% rate. The fee is capped at $100 per order.
Why is the listing fee charged when an item sells?+
Each listing costs $0.20 for four months or until it sells. When an item sells and has more quantity, Etsy automatically renews it for another $0.20, so most sellers effectively pay the listing fee per sale.
