About the Schema Markup Generator
This schema markup generator turns a few form fields into ready-to-paste JSON-LD structured data using the schema.org vocabulary. Choose FAQPage, LocalBusiness, Product, Article or HowTo, fill in the details, and copy the <script type="application/ld+json"> block into your page’s HTML or your CMS’s header-code field.
Structured data helps search engines understand what a page is about — the business’s address and hours, a product’s price and rating, an article’s author and date — and makes the page eligible for rich results such as product snippets with stars and prices. It is built for site owners, SEO specialists and developers who want correct markup without writing JSON by hand.
Empty fields are left out automatically and text is escaped properly, so the output is valid JSON. Note that Google stopped showing HowTo rich results in 2023 and, as of May 7, 2026, no longer shows FAQ rich results at all, though both are still valid schema.org markup that other search engines and AI tools can read. Always test the result with Google’s Rich Results Test before publishing.
How to use the schema markup generator
- 1Choose the schema type that matches the page.
- 2Fill in the fields — for FAQs, write one "question | answer" per line.
- 3Copy the generated script tag.
- 4Paste it into the page’s HTML head or body, or your CMS’s custom code field.
- 5Validate it with Google’s Rich Results Test before publishing.
Formula and method
JSON-LD is a JSON object that declares the schema.org vocabulary in @context and the kind of thing described in @type. The generator maps each form field to the matching schema.org property — for example an FAQ line becomes a Question with an acceptedAnswer, an address becomes a nested PostalAddress, and a price becomes an Offer with priceCurrency and availability.
Fields you leave blank are removed rather than output as empty strings, which keeps the markup clean and avoids validation warnings. The JSON is serialized with two-space indentation, and any "<" is escaped as \u003c so text cannot accidentally close the script tag. Required properties are checked and flagged if missing.
- @context
- Vocabulary used — always https://schema.org
- @type
- Schema type: FAQPage, LocalBusiness, Product, Article or HowTo
- mainEntity
- The list of Questions on an FAQ page
Worked examples
FAQ page with two questions
Each "question | answer" line becomes a Question with an acceptedAnswer inside mainEntity. The result is a single FAQPage object wrapped in a JSON-LD script tag, ready to paste into the page.
Local coffee shop
The business gets five properties — name, telephone, priceRange, a nested PostalAddress and two openingHours entries. Blank description, URL and image fields are left out instead of being output as empty strings.
Product with price and rating
Name, SKU, a Brand object, an Offer priced at "129.00" USD and in stock, and an AggregateRating of 4.6 from 212 reviews make five properties — enough for Google product snippets.
How-to with missing steps
A HowTo needs at least one step. With the steps box empty, the generator outputs only the name and flags the missing step property.
Frequently asked questions
What is schema markup?+
Schema markup is structured data, written with the shared schema.org vocabulary, that labels the facts on a page — a business’s address, a product’s price, an article’s author — so search engines can understand them and show rich results.
Where do I put JSON-LD on my page?+
Paste the <script type="application/ld+json"> block anywhere in the page’s HTML, usually in the <head>. Google reads JSON-LD in either the head or body, and it can also be injected by your CMS, a plugin or Google Tag Manager.
Is JSON-LD better than microdata?+
Google recommends JSON-LD because it sits in one block separate from the visible HTML, which makes it easier to add and maintain. Microdata and RDFa are still supported but require editing the page’s markup itself.
Does schema markup improve rankings?+
Structured data is not a direct ranking factor, but it makes pages eligible for rich results such as review stars, prices and business details, which can increase click-through rate from search results.
Why don’t my FAQ rich results show in Google?+
Google limited FAQ rich results to well-known government and health websites in August 2023 (when it also stopped showing HowTo rich results) and removed the FAQ rich result entirely from May 7, 2026. FAQPage markup is still valid schema.org and other search engines and AI tools can still read it.
