About the Canada Disability Benefit Calculator
This Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) calculator estimates the monthly federal benefit for working-age Canadians with disabilities for the July 2026 to June 2027 payment period. The maximum is $204.20 a month ($2,450.40 a year), indexed to inflation from the original $200. The benefit is reduced once adjusted family net income from your 2025 tax return passes an income threshold, after subtracting a working income exemption of up to $10,210 for singles or $14,294 for couples.
It is for people aged 18 to 64 who have an approved disability tax credit (DTC) certificate, and for family members and advocates helping them plan. Couples are treated differently: if your spouse or common-law partner is not a CDB recipient, your benefit drops by 20 cents per dollar over the couple threshold; if you both receive the CDB, each of your benefits drops by 10 cents per dollar.
The calculator follows the formula in section 6 of the Canada Disability Benefit Regulations, which multiplies the income thresholds of $23,000 (single) and $32,500 (couple) by the same 2.1% indexing factor as the maximum (Canada.ca still quotes the unindexed thresholds, so its figures may differ by a few dollars a month near the threshold). You (and your spouse, if you have one) must have filed your 2025 federal tax return to be paid, and you must meet the residency and citizenship or immigration status rules.
With the default inputs, the estimated monthly cdb is $204.20. Change any value above to recalculate instantly.

Formula and method
The regulations set the basic amount at $2,400 a year multiplied by an indexing factor A (the highest annual CPI since 2024 divided by 2024 CPI), which is 1.021 for July 2026 to June 2027 — giving $204.20 a month. The reduction R uses adjusted family net income from the previous tax year, less working income up to the indexed exemption ($10,210 single, $14,294 couple), less the indexed threshold ($23,483 single, $33,182.50 couple).
Singles and people whose spouse is not a recipient lose 20% of income over the threshold; when both spouses receive the CDB each loses 10%, so the household reduction is the same 20%. The monthly amount is rounded to the nearest cent. The thresholds here apply the same indexing factor as the maximum and exemptions, as the regulations require.

Worked examples
Single person with $26,000 income including $6,000 from work
All $6,000 of working income is exempt, leaving $20,000 — below the indexed $23,483 single threshold. The person gets the full $204.20 a month, or $2,450.40 for the year.
Single person with $35,000 income, $12,000 from work
Only $10,210 of working income is exempt, so countable income is $24,790 — $1,307 over the threshold. The reduction is 20% × $1,307 = $261.40 a year, leaving ($2,450.40 − $261.40) ÷ 12 = $182.42 a month.
Couple who both receive the CDB, $45,000 pension income
Income is $11,817.50 above the $33,182.50 couple threshold. Each spouse’s benefit falls by 10% of that, $1,181.75 a year, leaving $105.72 a month each — $211.44 for the household.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the Canada Disability Benefit in 2026?+
For the July 2026 to June 2027 payment period the maximum is $204.20 a month, or $2,450.40 a year. It was $200 a month for July 2025 to June 2026 and is indexed to inflation each July.
Who is eligible for the Canada Disability Benefit?+
You must be 18 to 64, a resident of Canada for tax purposes, have an approved disability tax credit certificate, have filed your previous year’s tax return (and your spouse theirs), and meet the citizenship or immigration status rules.
What income reduces the CDB?+
Adjusted family net income from the previous tax year above the threshold. For singles the threshold is $23,000 before indexing; for couples $32,500. Working income up to $10,000 (single) or $14,000 (couple), before indexing, is ignored.
How does my spouse’s income affect the CDB?+
Couples are assessed on combined adjusted family net income against a higher threshold. If your spouse is not a CDB recipient you lose 20 cents per dollar over the threshold; if you both get the CDB, each loses 10 cents per dollar.
Will the CDB affect my provincial disability assistance?+
The federal government intends the CDB to supplement, not replace, provincial and territorial support and has asked provinces not to claw it back. Treatment varies by program, so check your province’s current policy before you apply.
When is the Canada Disability Benefit paid?+
Payments are made monthly once your application is approved, based on your 2025 federal tax return for the July 2026 to June 2027 period. You can receive back payments for up to 24 months before your application was received, but not for months before June 2025.
