About the Canada Child Benefit Calculator

This Canada Child Benefit (CCB) calculator estimates the tax-free monthly payment the Canada Revenue Agency will send you for the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year. Enter your 2025 adjusted family net income (AFNI), the number of children under 6 and aged 6 to 17, and how many are eligible for the disability tax credit, and it applies CRA’s phase-out formula to show your monthly and yearly amounts.

It is useful for new parents budgeting before a first payment, families whose income changed and who want to see the effect, and anyone comparing how an RRSP contribution (which lowers net income) could raise next year’s CCB. The chart shows how your benefit falls as family income rises.

The maximum for this period is $8,157 a year for each child under 6 and $6,883 for each child aged 6 to 17. Benefits start to shrink once AFNI passes $38,237, at a rate that depends on the number of children, and shrink more slowly above $82,847. The Child Disability Benefit adds up to $3,480 per eligible child. Provincial and territorial child benefits, which CRA pays alongside the CCB, are not included.

With the default inputs, the estimated monthly payment is $1,008.50. Change any value above to recalculate instantly.

How to use the canada child benefit calculator

  1. 1Find your 2025 net income (line 23600) and your spouse’s or partner’s and add them.
  2. 2Enter the number of children under 6 and aged 6 to 17.
  3. 3Enter how many children are approved for the disability tax credit.
  4. 4Read the estimated monthly payment and yearly total.

Formula and method

CCB = $8,157 × under-6 + $6,883 × age 6–17 − reduction; reduction = r₁ × (AFNI − $38,237) up to $82,847, then base + r₂ × (AFNI − $82,847)

The maximum benefit adds $8,157 for each child under 6 and $6,883 for each child aged 6 to 17. When adjusted family net income exceeds $38,237 the total is reduced by 7% (one child), 13.5% (two), 19% (three) or 23% (four or more) of the income above that threshold. Above $82,847 the reduction is a fixed $3,123, $6,022, $8,476 or $10,260 plus 3.2%, 5.7%, 8% or 9.5% of income over $82,847.

The Child Disability Benefit pays up to $3,480 per child eligible for the disability tax credit and is reduced by 3.2% (one eligible child) or 5.7% (two or more) of AFNI above $82,847. The yearly total is paid in 12 monthly instalments from July 2026 to June 2027.

Worked examples

Two children, family income $60,000

The maximum is $8,157 + $6,883 = $15,040. Income is $21,763 over $38,237, and the two-child rate of 13.5% reduces the benefit by $2,938.01, leaving $12,101.99 a year — about $1,008.50 a month.

Three children, family income $100,000

The maximum for one child under 6 and two aged 6–17 is $21,923. Above $82,847, three children reduce it by $8,476 + 8% × $17,153 = $9,848.24, leaving $12,074.76 a year.

One child with a disability, income $90,000

CCB is $6,883 − ($3,123 + 3.2% × $7,153) = $3,531.10. The Child Disability Benefit is $3,480 − 3.2% × $7,153 = $3,251.10, for a total of $6,782.21 a year.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Canada Child Benefit for 2026–2027?+

For July 2026 to June 2027 the maximum is $8,157 a year ($679.75 a month) for each child under 6 and $6,883 a year ($573.58 a month) for each child aged 6 to 17. Families with net income above $38,237 receive less.

What income is used for the CCB?+

CRA uses your adjusted family net income from the previous year — the July 2026 to June 2027 payments are based on 2025 returns. It is your net income plus your spouse’s or common-law partner’s, with a few adjustments set out by CRA.

When is the CCB paid?+

CCB is paid in monthly instalments and recalculated every July using the previous year’s family net income, so July 2026 to June 2027 payments use 2025 income. CRA publishes exact payment dates on its benefit payment dates page.

Is the Canada Child Benefit taxable?+

No. The Canada Child Benefit and the Child Disability Benefit are tax-free payments, so you do not include them in your income when you file your return.

How can I increase my CCB?+

Because CCB depends on family net income, deductions such as RRSP and FHSA contributions, child care expenses and union dues lower AFNI and can raise next year’s payment. Both partners must file a return every year.

What is the Child Disability Benefit?+

It is an extra amount, up to $3,480 per year per child for July 2026 to June 2027, for children approved for the disability tax credit. It is reduced once family net income exceeds $82,847.
