About the Malaysia Salary Calculator

This Malaysia salary calculator turns a gross monthly salary into estimated take-home pay. It deducts your EPF (KWSP) contribution, SOCSO (PERKESO) and EIS, then estimates monthly PCB (MTD) income tax from your yearly tax liability, and also shows what your employer pays on top.

It suits employees comparing offers, checking a payslip or planning around a raise. EPF uses the official Third Schedule wage ranges (RM20 bands up to RM5,000 and RM100 bands above), and SOCSO and EIS use the RM6,000 insured wage ceiling in force since 1 October 2024.

Income tax uses the LHDN resident rates published for YA2023–YA2025 (0% to 30%), assumed unchanged for YA2026 until LHDN lists a new table, the RM9,000 individual relief, EPF relief up to RM4,000, SOCSO/EIS relief up to RM350 and the RM400 rebate when chargeable income is RM35,000 or less. PCB is shown as one-twelfth of the annual tax — actual MTD from your employer’s schedule can differ slightly month to month. Bonuses, benefits-in-kind and zakat are not included.

With the default inputs, the estimated take-home pay (monthly) is RM5,094.06. Change any value above to recalculate instantly.

Formula and method

EPF = 11% × wage-range upper limit (rounded up to RM1)
SOCSO = 0.5% and EIS = 0.2% × band mid-point (ceiling RM6,000)
Chargeable = 12 × salary − 9,000 − EPF relief (≤ 4,000) − SOCSO/EIS relief (≤ 350) − other reliefs
Net = Salary − EPF − SOCSO − EIS − Tax ÷ 12

EPF contributions come from the Third Schedule of the EPF Act: for wages up to RM5,000 the contribution is based on the top of each RM20 wage range, and up to RM20,000 on the top of each RM100 range, with each share rounded up to the next ringgit. Below age 60 the employee pays 11% and the employer 13% (12% above RM5,000); from 60 the employer pays 4% only.

SOCSO (Employment Injury and Invalidity, First Category) is 0.5% from the employee and 1.75% from the employer, and EIS is 0.2% each, both based on RM100 wage bands up to the RM6,000 insured ceiling. Income tax applies the resident progressive rates to chargeable income after reliefs, less a RM400 rebate if chargeable income is at most RM35,000. Monthly PCB is approximated as one-twelfth of the annual tax.

Worked examples

RM6,000 a month, below 60

EPF is 11% of RM6,000 = RM660 (employer 12% = RM720). SOCSO is 0.5% and EIS 0.2% of the RM5,950 band mid-point: RM29.75 and RM11.90. Chargeable income is RM72,000 − RM9,000 − RM4,000 − RM350 = RM58,650, so tax is RM1,500 + 11% × RM8,650 = RM2,451.50, or about RM204.29 a month.

RM3,250 a month

EPF uses the RM3,240.01–RM3,260 wage range, so contributions are 11% and 13% of RM3,260: RM359 and RM424 (matching KWSP’s own example). Chargeable income is RM39,000 − RM9,000 − RM4,000 − RM273 = RM25,727, giving RM321.81 of tax. Because chargeable income is under RM35,000, the RM400 rebate wipes this out, so no PCB is due and take-home pay is RM2,868.25.

RM15,000 a month with RM6,000 of other reliefs

EPF is 11% of RM15,000 = RM1,650, but only RM4,000 a year counts for relief. Chargeable income is RM180,000 − RM9,000 − RM4,000 − RM350 − RM6,000 = RM160,650. Tax is RM9,400 on the first RM100,000 plus 25% of RM60,650 (RM15,162.50) = RM24,562.50.

Frequently asked questions

What are the EPF contribution rates in 2026?+

For Malaysians and PRs below 60, employees contribute 11% and employers 13% on wages up to RM5,000, or 12% above RM5,000. From age 60 the employee rate is 0% and the employer pays 4%. Amounts follow the Third Schedule wage ranges and are rounded up to the ringgit.

What is the SOCSO and EIS wage ceiling?+

Since 1 October 2024 SOCSO and EIS contributions are based on insured wages up to RM6,000 a month. At the ceiling an employee pays RM29.75 SOCSO and RM11.90 EIS, while the employer pays RM104.15 and RM11.90.

Which tax reliefs does this calculator include?+

It applies the RM9,000 individual relief, EPF relief up to RM4,000 and SOCSO/EIS relief up to RM350 automatically. Add other reliefs such as spouse (RM4,000), children, life insurance, medical or lifestyle relief in the other reliefs box.

Is LINDUNG 24 Jam compulsory?+
